History, Philosophy and Personal
Ray Smith & Associates was founded in 1991 by Raymond E. Smith after he
concluded a 21 year career with Aetna Realty Investors where he attained the
position of Senior Vice President in charge of Commercial Loan Production for
all of the Aetna companies. The group for which he was responsible, consisting
of approximately 50 professionals, in the 1980's averaged nearly $3,000,000,000
per year in closings.
In December of 1992, Mr. Smith was appointed Senior Executive Vice President of
Legg Mason Dorman & Wilson, headquartered in White Plains, New York. From 1992
to his return in 1997 to Ray Smith & Associates, Mr. Smith was responsible for
all of Dorman & Wilson's commercial loan production offices. They were located
in White Plains, New York City, New Jersey, Long Island and Rochester.
Ray Smith and Associates prides itself in ethics and customer service. Mr. Smith
interacts directly with both the borrower and lender. When a borrower hires Ray
Smith & Associates, it is assigned Mr. Smith. There is no analyst delegation,
thus the borrower and lender can both look to Mr. Smith for their loan
negotiations.
